We have an eternal rest that awaits us, while we live with this in view we must not give in to grasping for it now. We work here and now, with our rest in view, and find perseverance for the day at hand. Let us pray to the God who is our endurance and strength (Romans 15:5), our help in the times of weariness:
My heart and flesh fail me (Psalm 73), my heart deceives me. But You Lord are unchanging; You are always good, always “the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” (John 14:6) You are my help and our strength; help me as I grow weary in the mundane, the “day to day”–grant me endurance for the struggles, the conversations, the life-changing moments that I will face today. Rather than giving in to weariness, I want be who You’ve called me to be, and I will “strive according to His power that works mightily within me.” (Colossians 1:29)
“Revive me according to Your word.” (Psalm 119:25) Show me Your heart LORD, that I would know You want to revive me; I want to trust You alone to do this work. Teach me to dig into your Word, as You do this revival in me! Truly my hope is in You!
