A prayer from Psalm 107:43 “ Who is wise? Let him give heed to these things, and consider the steadfast love of the LORD.” Consider His love, muse upon it, let it direct your thoughts and prayers. It is a great spiritual habit to consider the things He calls us to consider. Give time to this, and your affections will be freed from lesser loves, and refreshed by His endless stores of love.
Oh LORD, Your love is steadfast, enduring, strong. You are not fickle like we are; Your love does not come and go as ours does. Your love does not change. You promised to remain with Your people, and have sent Your Spirit; so pour Your love into our hearts afresh, an everlasting fountain of love pouring in!
You proved Your great love at the cross (Romans 5:8); when I doubt, let Your Spirit help me call this to mind. I doubt Your love when I feel unlovely; and when I act unlovely toward my children. Yet, Your love is enduring, unchanging, and freely given because You are Love.
The days seem long LORD. Help us as we reach that point in the day when we feel drained and weary. Refresh us, we need Your loving Spirit to work “Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness, Faithfulness and Self Control” in us as we parent during these long days.
Thank you LORD that nothing–not my sin, my despairing thoughts, or my circumstances–nothing can separate me from Your love, and Your loving care. You will sustain me yet.
You know our hearts, and all our needs and desires; You know the hearts of our children. We cannot always know what they need–especially in a disoriented season such as this. Make us wise and discerning, that we may help one another, and especially our children, foster fortitude in them, and enjoy one another’s company.
Amen.
