Hiding in Jesus

There is no place safer, more comforting, or more wonderful situation to be in, than when we find our lives “hidden in Christ.” He has become for us everything we need, long for, and can find true satisfaction in. In Him we find our true identity, and He makes us more like Him–more like the person we were created to be. To His glory. He is our redemption, our wisdom, our sanctification. He is our refuge, our strength, our help. And He died for us while we were yet sinners, so now that we are His, how will He not also freely give us all things? He loves to give His Spirit and lavish His grace. He is faithful and true. So to Him, we pray.

1. Lord, help me to believe that you indeed carry me, lead me, protect me, as the Shepherd of His flock (Isaiah 40:11). I want to find myself in Your loving, everlasting arms.

Selah

2. Lord, help me to believe what You declare about me: I am called, beloved, and kept (Jude 1). Strengthen in me the desire to stay (to remain, to abide) in your love, and to wait more anxiously for Your return (Jude 20-21).

Selah

3. Lord, I want to keep seeking the things above, where You are seated, for my life is hidden in You (Colossians 3:2-3). I do not want to run to any other hiding place, or any other “home” but You (Psalm 90:1; Psalm 32:7).

Selah

4. Lord, let me find all my confidence in You alone; You are my righteousness and there is nothing I can add to Your perfect work (Philippians 3:3, 9).

Selah

5. Lord, I wait for You, as you will be transforming me into Your likeness, with Your perfect gentleness, patience, love, and mercy (2 Cor 3:18, Gal 4:19). Cover my defenseless head with the shadow of Thy wing, as I endure these days here on earth (song: Jesus, Lover of my soul)

Selah

6. Lord, as I seek to find myself more in you, make me more like You, with Your mindset–considering others as more important than myself, and not merely seeking my own interests; let me love what You love and hate what You hate (Philippians 2:3-8).

Selah

7. Lord, I want to love like You do, I owe it to my neighbors, my enemies, my church, and all those I hold dear; but I can only do this when I am abiding in Your love; so today I want to “put on the Lord Jesus Christ” and so walk in Your love and Your ways (Romans 13:8, 14).
